If you are a physician or nurse practitioner providing medical care to trans patients in BC, there is a free consultation line available to you.

The Rapid Access to Consultative Expertise (R.A.C.E.) Line is staffed by physicians who are experts in trans health care. They are happy to answer your questions so that you can provide the best gender-affirming care to your patients.

 

Surgery referral and postoperative care

The referral and funding process for gender-affirming surgeries changed in January of 2015.

The Ministry of Health has reviewed provincial coverage for gender affirming medical treatment. Effective immediately, British Columbia residents do not need to apply for MSP coverage for insured gender-affirming surgery.
