School can be a supportive and nurturing environment for a trans or gender creative student. However, lack of understanding about trans issues and gender-based bullying can make school a stressful experience for many children and youth. Research shows that schools with GSA and inclusion policies that explicitly protest LGBT2Q+ youth have better health outcomes for all youth, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
